10 Proven Tactics On How to Increase Blog Traffic

How to Increase Blog Traffic

Bloggers spend hours a day writing posts and crafting their sites, only to have a few people read them. When you count on blog readership as a source of income, it can be discouraging when you have less than 10 readers a day. That’s the reason, today I’m going to discuss 10 Proven Tactics on how to increase traffic to your blog.

These are the tips that most bloggers use to improve their traffic.

Though these suggestions may not produce immediate results, you must be patient in order to see positive results.

With that being said, let’s take a look at some tips that, if followed regularly, can skyrocket your traffic.

10 Ways How To Increase Your Blog Traffic

1. Target Low Competition Keywords

Many bloggers simply write about whatever comes to mind without conducting any keyword research.

It works well when your blog has a high domain authority, but as a beginner, you must work strategically.

This means you should target low-competition keywords.

Although such keywords have a low search volume, they are simple to rank because there is no competition from authoritative sites.

Consider these cases:

  1. Write an article on “Android phones under $300”
  2. Write an article on “Samsung”

Which keyword seems easier to rank?

Obviously, the first keyword because it is more specific, whereas the second one is too broad.

Similarly, you also need to do some research to find such low-competition keywords so that you can eventually rank on the first page.

To find them, you can use keyword research tools such as Ahrefs, Semrush, Moz, KWFinder, Ubersuggest, etc.

These tools will display the keyword difficulty score for any keyword that you enter.

Based on the low KD score, you can pick the right keywords and begin targeting them to eventually rank on Google to increase traffic.

2. Write More Post

It is a well-known fact that the more posts you publish, the better your chances of increasing traffic are.

Consider this:

If your blog has only ten posts & each of which receives ten visitors per day, you will generate 100 visitors in a single day.

Now imagine your site has 100 posts. Each of these receives the same number of visitors; this will result in 1,000 visitors per day, which is a better figure.

So, writing more will always help to increase your site traffic. However, you should not write about anything here because it will be ineffective.

That’s why as discussed in the previous section, you should only write about low-competition keywords for increasing Google traffic and target popular topics for social media traffic.

I recommend planning your keywords ahead of time and then focusing on writing them throughout the month.

This way you will be able to accomplish more and remain productive throughout the month.

3. Indulge in Pinterest Marketing

Unlike Google, Pinterest is the best platform for generating traffic that does not require much effort.

If you don’t know, Pinterest is actually a search engine that displays search results as images rather than text links.

It receives over 400 million visitors per month who are looking for new ideas to inspire their next purchase.

To drive traffic from Pinterest, you must first create a business account, as it will give access to the analytics feature.

Then, begin creating a large number of images known as pins with clickable titles.

You can create as many pins as you want for each post having a different title, color, image, and design.

When uploading them, ensure that the pin description includes the target keyword to ensure that it ranks over time.

When Pinterest recognizes your account, it will start sharing your pins with more & more visitors, resulting in increased traffic.

Though this is just the tip of the iceberg, there is a lot more to Pinterest marketing that you can learn about online.

4. Craft Great Headlines/Titles

Which of these headlines will you click?

Obviously, the second one is because it entices readers and piques their interest.

No matter how many articles you write or how well they are written, if they do not have a clickable title, you will lose the vast majority of potential readers.

That is how important the headline is, and it should not be overlooked.

Now, the question is how to create captivating headlines when you have no idea.

To tackle this problem, I recommend that you use the following tips.

  • Include numbers in your headline because people are naturally drawn to numbers and lists because they are simple for the brain to process.
  • Create a sense of urgency as it develops FOMO (Fear of missing out). You can accomplish this by specifying a deadline for a special offer and using urgent language. For example, 19 Simple Ways to Lower Your Bounce Rate Today is a great example where the word “today” is urgent language.
  • Use emotional words in your title, such as free, incredible, strange, effortless, and so on.
  • When crafting your title, use trigger words such as what, why, how, and when.

Well, all these tips depend on the type of content you produce. So, use them accordingly.

Another method is to use a tool such as CoSchedule Headline Analyzer to generate clickable headlines.

This tool will grade the overall quality of your headline and rate its ability to generate social shares, increased traffic, and SEO value.

Based on the result, you can tweak the title to improve its score and then use it for your post.

5. Reduce Bounce Rate

When someone visits a single page on your blog and does nothing before leaving, the bounce rate is calculated.

A site’s bounce rate specifically measures how many visitors leave a page without performing a specific action, such as purchasing something, filling out a form, or clicking on a link.

As a result, the lower your site’s bounce rate, the more page views and average visit duration you’ll receive. Also, this can increase your ad revenue as well.

So, to improve your bounce rate, you should pay attention to the following factors.

  • Improve page loading speed to retain visitors who might otherwise leave due to infinite loading time.
  • Build internal links in each of your posts so the visitors can discover more relatable posts.
  • Avoid low-quality content as it can ruin the overall experience of your audience.
  • Avoid Pop-ups as they can annoy your visitors, thus resulting in an exit.
  • Make your site mobile-friendly.

6. Start Creating Videos For YouTube

YouTube receives over 2 billion viewers per month and is an excellent place to promote your blog.

Although it is primarily a video-sharing site, it can also be used to drive traffic to your blog.

All you have to do is choose a post to promote and make a video about it.

You can either record yourself explaining things or use PowerPoint or screen recording software to create your videos.

Once finished, simply upload it to your channel and include a link to your blog post in the video description.

When you follow this method, there is a high chance of getting fewer clicks on your post. I mean, if your audience is getting all of the information they need from your video, why would they click on your post link?

That is why I recommend not disclosing everything in your video and leaving something for them to click on your post.

For example, if you’re creating a video about “10 tips to increase blog traffic,” include only five of them in the video and direct viewers to the remaining five via the blog post link in the video description.

If you follow this method, you will undoubtedly receive more traffic from YouTube.

However, to generate significant clicks, you will need to upload several videos.

7. Start Guest Posting

Guest Posting is another effective way to increase traffic to your blog & it’s completely free.

Writing guest posts for other blogs can boost the visibility of your own site significantly.

It will not only provide you with a free backlink (good for SEO), but it will also help to divert their audience to your blog.

All you have to do is find the right blog that caters to your target audience.

For example, a site that shares money-saving tips should guest post for another site that also writes on the same topic.

Guest posting will help to increase the exposure of your blog because not only do they allow you to include at least one link in the guest post but also help to attract their audience.

Also, while choosing a site, ensure it has an engaged readership.

Sites with fewer than 100 monthly visitors will be a bad choice, and the backlinks will be of poor quality.

So, it is recommended that you only target sites with a higher web authority to get more traffic and have your in-content link carry more weight.

8. Optimize Your Content & Add Social Share Buttons

If you want to increase traffic to your blog, there are a few things you can do to optimize your content so that it receives more repeat visitors.

One of the best things you can do is to have the vast majority of your blog posts revolve around evergreen content.

Trending topics, seasonal posts, and breaking news may generate traffic for a short time, but they will not generate traffic in the long run.

However, evergreen content will always generate more clicks over time. A few examples include list posts, how-to posts, case studies, product reviews, etc.

These posts can be promoted every week, month, or even year because they will be still relevant to your audience, resulting in consistent traffic.

Another quick and easy way to increase traffic is to include social sharing buttons in your post

It may look like a simple thing, but it can result in a lot of exposure when your audience shares your content across social media using those buttons.

To include them, simply install one of the following social sharing WordPress plugins listed below.

9. Promote on Quora

Have you ever counted the number of times you typed a question into a search engine and the results included the site, Quora?

You may not realize the importance of using such sites, but they can be used as an excellent traffic platform if you know how to use them.

To get started, simply create a Quora account and fill out all of the necessary profile information.

Then, select a post that you want to promote and search the keyword on Google with the “Quora” tag included.

For example, if I want to look into Quora questions about ways to increase blog traffic, I’ll do a Google search using the keyword “ways to increase blog traffic Quora.”

This will show me all of the top-rated quora questions related to the keyword, and all I have to do is answer them with a link to my blog post.

Please ensure that the link is added naturally rather than spamming, or your account may get a ban.

Once you have answered enough questions for all your blog posts, you will gradually see an increase in Quora traffic to your site.

10. Keep Your Contents Fresh And Updated

The final method for increasing blog traffic is to update old posts with new and updated information.

It’s not just about repurposing, but also about making things relevant again.

You can refresh an old post by adding new information, statistics, new images, Pinterest pins, and other data to make it fresh again.

Additionally, update the publication date and submit it to the Google search console so that it is quickly updated in the Google database.
